DORMIR DROIT : UN SOMMEIL DE GAUCHER

this book is divided into two halves - fixed to either covers the pages fan out eastward and westward. in the pictures (most of them impossible to make out) i capture every toss and turn during one night's sleep. i organized the pages in chronological order of each movement.

the use of accordion binding fulfills my desire for a topographical presentation of the restlessness i'd experienced. something like charting. a map of sleep might attempt to give some tangible dimension to a series of supposed dreams.

a map of sleep could try to track for the duration of a night the position of a particular body part. a map of sleep should try to fulfill both the concept of mapping and sleeping. both of these concepts are themselves very binary : highly abstract or precise to a science. this book was not to frame sleep as some active occupation to be manipulated and exploited - i restrain from curating it. instead, i attempt to provide the key and the map itself.
